My First Day With The Wii U

Fresh off the back of the Nintendo conference this week, I, like many I’m assuming, have finally picked up a Wii U.  I’ve had it for a day and I am FAR from impressed.

E3 PREDICTION: Nintendo

Nintendo_Logo

  • Mario Maker (recently spotted)
  • New Zelda
  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Majora’s Mask remake 3DS
  • Yarn Yoshi
  • Smash Brothers
  • Metroid
  • They patented something the other week – whatever that turns out to be
  • Xenoblade will get a name
  • Gamecube games will be made available for download which ties in with the discontinuation of the current Wii U in japan, to make way for something with a large on board storage.  I’d like for it to be called the Wii cUbe but that’s never going to happen
  • SMT x Fire Emblem

I”ll update this post with what actually happened later

REVIEW: Assassins Creed III

Assassins Creed III marks the closure of the originally announced and then extended to five main game trilogy and a further three handheld spin-offs by taking players between the American Civil War and Present day in an effort to stop the sun melting the planet on the 21st December.

A few of you may remember my scathing review of Assassin’s Creed Revelations from last year so to be fair, AC3, had an absolute mountain to climb to get me back on board with this franchise but quite frankly I feel this entry never really left base camp.

REVIEW: Call of Duty: Black Ops II

The yearly addition to the Call of Duty franchise is always a landmark in the gaming calendar as retailers up and down the country throw open their doors at midnight and play host to the swarms of people looking to get their hands on a copy as soon as the clock strikes twelve.

The only time you could catch me at a midnight launch would have been when I worked for GAME/Gamestation as I would have been one of the people forgoing sleep to sell you a copy, you die hard fans you.

My history with Call of Duty has been limited to everything after Modern Warfare but not including World at War, pretty much when the series took a jump in popularity really.  The only time I’ve felt compelled to actually spend money on the title was for the launch of Modern Warfare 2 but swiftly traded it all back in to recoup my money, opting to play future titles in marathon sessions of six hours on a Sunday in the stock room on an old dusty 15″ CRT.

Times have changed now though.  Borrowing a copy, pumping it through the DPX21 and sitting as close as possible to my 32″ Samsung without burning a hole in my retina, I marathon-ed Black Ops II last night to bring you this review today.

Requests Anyone?

Sadly the above picture doesn’t come close to what I have or even what I would like to achieve in my lifetime, although I’d like to think my collection has some significance.  I’ve posted a few pictures of my bits and bobs before and have even compiled a video game database to keep track of what I have and what I’m missing.

Rather then throw out opinions on the new blockbusters hitting the shelves, I thought it would make a change to take a look back at the games I have in my collections and why they are there.

Feel free to comment a letter, game or genre and I’ll pick something from the collection to write about.

Here is a list of my current collection
